"This panhandler on the train was singing that John Legend song that goes, "creep to the bedroom while your mama's out..." On that ride, I happened to be sitting next to these two men who had an enormous sack of expensive sneakers. They were examining different pairs and commenting on how valuable each one was. As I was leaving the train, I was pushed away from the door - the panhandler, having diverted the sack into his possession, was escaping rapidly. The quantity of shoes, in a sack, seemed pretty questionable to me so I didn't feel guilty about not doing anything." – Alex Smith
