“Recorded in my living room, and the first time I tracked the Estey air organ I found on craigslist. Too much use of the "enhance" circuit on a joe meek VC3 on just about everything, but I can't get enough of that stuff. Wendy Mittelstadt added harmonies and did the violin and viola tracks with a prototype of a ribbon mic called the Naked Eye, by Crowley and Tripp. The cello track is a Reason sample.
The song is about a story my girlfriend Laura told me. She grew up in Montana and one really cold winter, some of the chickens got frost bitten feet. One little black bantam lost his feet entirely, so they had to make boots for him out of the thumbs cut off of an old pair of leather gloves. The banty just carried on like nothing was amiss. That damn story gets me completely choked up.” – Clayton Scoble
